The company was acquired by Guidant (now Boston Scientific NYSE: BSX). Blake founded his first start-up company, Med-Equip Inc., a regional dealer for hospital patient monitoring systems, which grew to dominate its market and was acquired by SpaceLabs (now LSE:SLABS). In his first post-college job, American Hospital Supply Corporation (now Cardinal Health NYSE: CAH), he won the prestigious Circle of Stars sales award and gained the attention and mentoring of that company’s legendary leader and CEO, Karl Bays, who was later elected to the Medical Distribution Hall of Fame.
