Mr. Whitney is a consultant at the executive level to several companies in the healthcare services marketplace. He is an active and contributing member of several healthcare boards of directors, as well.
Blake's long experience in the development of business opportunities in the healthcare industry. He was the co-founder, CEO and Chairman of MDdatacor (a GA corp.) a healthcare informatics company that remotely captures and centrally processes medical record data into a single searchable database for creation of web-based health records using proprietary and patented processes. He's raised more than $18 million in venture capital, executed significant contracts with medical device, pharmaceutical and health plan customers. Blake was also on the founding team and the first president of WebMD. He helped lead “WebMD, health’s homepage” as it created the health information transformation from the bookshelf to the computer desktop. At WebMD he managed explosive company growth, merged with Healtheon (now WebMD Health Corp. NASDAQ: WBMD). Previously, Mr. Whitney was the President of Quality Diagnostic Services, Inc., (QDS). There, he introduced mass-customization for medical data reporting for out-patient cardiac services delivered under the brand names of QDS’ customers, including many of the largest hospitals and heart institutes. QDS was acquired by Matria (NASDAQ: MATR). Prior to QDS, Blake was the founder and president of MedStar, Inc. a cardiovascular products distribution company. His innovative approach of bundling product educational services with product sales, proved to be a highly successful business model. The company was acquired by Guidant (now Boston Scientific NYSE: BSX). Blake founded his first start-up company, Med-Equip Inc., a regional dealer for hospital patient monitoring systems, which grew to dominate its market and was acquired by SpaceLabs (now LSE:SLABS). In his first post-college job, American Hospital Supply Corporation (now Cardinal Health NYSE: CAH), he won the prestigious Circle of Stars sales award and gained the attention and mentoring of that company’s legendary leader and CEO, Karl Bays, who was later elected to the Medical Distribution Hall of Fame.
Mr. Whitney is a graduate of the University of Iowa, BS, with externship at the U of I Hospitals and Clinics.
